Remote Craniosacral Therapy

Imagine experiencing the transformation of a craniosacral session right from the comfort and safety of your own home. No traffic to beat or errands to run afterwards, you can just stay in the session for as long as you want, until you are ready to get up. And you don’t have to worry if it’s safe or not to have the session because there is no in person contact.

You might be wondering who this can this help. Here’s a few situations:

Someone in pain, could be headaches, back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, burning pains with swelling, abdominal pain.
Someone who is having trouble focusing and concentrating.
Someone who is feeling depressed, low energy, emotionally stuck and wanting support to move forward with a life decision.
This is also especially helpful in times of chaos and uncertainty in the world, such as now, as our society is transitioning to something different, and hopefully more just, sane and harmonious with the earth!

Here’s an inspiring story of what can happen and what the experience is like of a remote session:

“I have suffered from chronic back and neck pain for over 20 years. And recently I have struggled with tremendous pain in my arthritic hands. The pain drove me to tears and nothing was helping such as pain or anti-inflammatory medication. My hands were so stiff and painful that I had to stop doing many tasks that required dexterity such as embroidery.  I was becoming very depressed. So I contacted Dr. Eisenheim to try some Craniosacral work.    I have to admit I was a bit skeptical of getting any results remotely (via telephone). However, as she began to work on me I felt the pain in my neck, back and hands begin to melt away. After the hour session I felt like a new woman! My energy level increased dramatically, my back and neck were relaxed and I was able to move my hands without discomfort. I look forward to further improvement with additional sessions! Dr. Eisenheim is the best!”   Becky Cash, Pueblo, Colorado

One of the benefits of doing craniosacral remotely is the convenience and safety of getting to have a session in your own home and having a more potent session because you are paying more attention to your body sensations, instead of relying on the practitioner to tell you how you’re feeling or what they’re noticing in your body. This is ultimately a more empowering process than an in-person session and you get to really learn that you are the one doing the healing, and the practitioner is just guiding the process. This is also more accessible to people who cannot climb a flight of stairs!

Holistic approach: Instead of treating separate symptoms, this therapy treats the whole person, which results in benefits much greater than alleviating the original health complaint.

“I was grateful to be able to access a remote/distance Craniosacral session with Dr. Eisenheim, during the time of CV19. At the moment I was struggling with lethargy, stagnation, depression; in addition to tending to a diagnosis of Cervical Dysplasia. These challenges were impacting me, mostly as symptoms in my body: stuck feelings in my muscles, low motivation, and shame. I was experiencing fear in regard to the possibility of my Cervical Dysplasia becoming cancerous, aware of a foreign element in my body. I wanted to activate myself so I would be able to go forward with courage to work with natural medicines in combination with a minor surgery, and not let fear freeze me from self-nurturing. During the session, which was performed remotely, I was able to sense Dr. Eisenheim working with the frequencies of my energetic field. This is an amazing experience, to feel connected to another individual 100’s of miles away. I felt immediate relief and encouraged to invite ease within my body. Dr. Eisenheim intuitively tuned into the womb area, and also received images of flower helpers, like calendula. With this a sense of hope, and unity with my body’s natural capacity to heal emerged. The currency of energies in my body began to circulate, my musculature and breathing (diaphragm) released, freeing up from stress that was creating blockages. Dr. Eisenheim consistently checked in with a dialogue, creating a dance between what my body was experiencing as well as my personal perceptions and emotions. I felt calm and so incredibly cared for. Several days later, my lethargy discharged, and I have been able to wake-up early and face my days with purpose. I am grateful to see that the session generated a shift!”

“What a true blessing this session was as I had been needing some cranial sacral work. It addressed current issues and some underlying concerns. Not knowing what to expect I was amazed at the intuitive and accurate results. I feel more opened energetically and connected to my center being. As well as a clarity of mind. Thank you for your feedback and useful suggestions. This is the medicine of the future.

Frequent Asked Questions:

What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics. Practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. Dr. Eisenheim’s approach allows the mind-body to reveal the real cause of any condition, be it physical, emotional, or spiritual. The beauty of this method is that it directly engages the body’s own self-healing processes to resolve the condition. This extremely gentle yet powerful approach produces lasting and permanent changes by connecting the patient to their inherent health that underlies any condition – leaving the person independent and resilient.

The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Eisenheim looks for any restrictions in the craniosacral system through detecting changes in motion and rhythm in different places in the body. Restrictions are then released, and more fluidity and health is created in the system.

By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body’s ability to self-correct, craniosacral therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment.

What is a typical session like?

Every session begins with a verbal check-in. The patient shares what is presently coming up for them, and set their intention for the work. Verbal sharing in itself has a therapeutic effect, and setting of an intention organizes the field of the session around it. Connection to the self-healing force, is established during this time. This is followed by the therapeutic, active part of the session, which usually lasts 40-45 minutes. During this time, Dr. Eisenheim helps you to connect to the self-healing force that is a manifestation of one’s Health, and allows it to process whatever pathology or disease that may be present. During this time, she accompanies  you through the journey of self-healing, in safety and with support. The session also removes hindrances to the patient’s self-healing ability. At the end of the active part of the session, the energetic field is released. The active part of the session is then followed by a verbal integration period, where impressions of the session are shared, and sense is made of the experience.

How long is a typical session?

For current patients, a session lasts about an hour. For new patients, an hour and half is needed to review medical history and discuss course of treatment. It is however recommended to schedule an extra 30 minutes to allow for slow integration time afterwards. Part of the benefit of doing a remote session in the comfort of your home is that you get to decide when it’s time to get up. You don’t have to rush out to drive in traffic, pick up your kids or do some errands on the way home. The session continues on its own independently until you get up.

How long will it take to resolve my health issue?

It really is a different journey for everyone, depending on a number of factors, such as how long you’ve been sick for, what you’re sick with, your nutrition, lifestyle, the state of your mind, other illnesses you may have, other treatments you are engaged in and if there’s any trauma in your background. Typically, it takes at least 4 sessions to get started working on a chronic issue and can take up to 10 sessions to resolve it. That said, some patients recover more quickly than this and some take more time. This is discussed at the first session and typically every 3-4 sessions thereafter.

How does this actually work?

Craniosacral therapy is a combination of energetic and physical work. In a remote session, the energetic side of things is more heightened, but you will still experience many of the same physical sensations as you would if we were doing an in-person session.  As we pay attention to something, things start to change. This is what I would be doing in person as well, paying loving, unconditional attention to your brain or liver or lumbar spine. When I am doing that in person, often, I’m not actually physically in contact with the brain or a specific nerve anyways, and so there is already an energetic component to what is happening in an in-person session.

Research from Masaru Emoto, Japanese scientist and author of the Hidden Messages in Water has found that what you think affects even water on a cellular level. Quantum research has already shown that the space around us isn’t empty. It doesn’t separate us; it actually connects us. And as soon as the subject observes the object, it changes it and participates in it.
The rhythms underlying therapy can be felt physically but are energetic in nature. And energy is not bound by either time or space. Even something as physical as our breath and heartbeat have energetic roots. Of course, they are governed by our brain, but where does the brain get its original impulse? None other than energy and the greater Intelligence that guides it.

I’m skeptical and I don’t believe this could work without the in-person touch.

Many patients are reporting that they feel many of the same sensations as they would in an in-person session.  Many of them are purely physical: shoulders softening, sacrum dropping in, pressure releasing in the cranium, etc. These are physical sensations without my hands being there!

“When we first started working together, I was feeling stressed and was having trouble focusing. I was not as efficient at work or at home and was feeling anxious. In our remote cranial sacral appointment I noticed shifts happening during the session and I felt lighter and more peaceful after the session.  I felt my brow relax as tension disappeared from my face, and now, 4 hours later, I STILL feel so relaxed.  I know I am going to sleep well tonight.  During the session I was surprised that Dr. Eisenheim was able to identify areas of tension in my body remotely, it was incredible! This was my first cranial sacral appointment, and I am so excited it was a virtual appointment.  It truly helped balance my body and created ease and relaxation in my mind and body, all from the convenience of my home.  I am grateful for this experience and highly recommend it!  Thank you Dr. Eisenheim!”

I’ll just wait until you offer craniosacral therapy in person again.

Because of the close proximity to faces that craniosacral requires and the difficulty in doing it with masks on means that it could be many months before I decide to offer in-person sessions again. It’s likely you’ve already been waiting for months now to address your pain, trauma or chronic health condition. This might be getting in the way of doing activities you enjoy, such as gardening, walking, hiking or biking. Or maybe it’s taking a toll on your home life because you can’t play with your children or do errands around the house and your housemates or partner are fed up with the situation. There is nothing more important than your health!

What conditions can this help resolve?

Chronic pain
Emotional/physical trauma of all kinds – birth, falls, accidents, other injuries, sexual or emotional abuse, loss/grief, surgery
General fatigue, lack of energy
limiting life views
Insomnia, sleep disorders
Headaches, migraines
Chronic sinusitis, recurrent middle-ear infections, allergies
Depression, anxiety, inability to focus
Digestive problems/Irritable bowel syndrome

“Suffering from seasonal allergies and sinus headaches, thought that craniosacral therapy could help. I felt tired, headaches were daily and I had to take Tylenol several times a day to deal with sinus headaches. I also felt cranky due to the symptoms, and sometimes lightheaded with sinus pressure. I was very surprised after the first session was done remotely that I felt very relaxed and a bit lighter. After the second session, I felt better than the first. I feel less clogged up in my head, less headaches and there are more positive feelings of well-being. I have been able to take less Tylenol or none at all. Initially, I was very skeptical that doing craniosacral remotely could help without the benefit of in person sessions. I am very surprised and happy with the results so far.”

Can this also work for visceral manipulation work?

Yes, if you were previously receiving manual therapy that was mainly addressing the viscera(organs), this approach can also help address any imbalances in the organs and the parts of the nervous system related to those organs. In this way, healing chronic abdominal pain, IBS, fatty liver, digestive issues, such as acid reflux, constipation and diarrhea can be helped.

Can children receive craniosacral therapy?

Yes, this work is suitable for people of all ages including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and can be effective in acute or chronic cases.

“A remote cranial sacral session was offered and the impact was immediately noticeable when she helped identify a deeper root to some of the illness, always in the calm and steady approach, the session tapped into my mental and emotional wellness. The following day I felt more integrated in my body and supported by the process in the session, I was able to direct my emotional healing to the areas of pain that were discovered in the session. I have a deep trust and respect for Dr. Eisenheim as a doctor who sees the many layers in healing, and her openness to explore these and talk about them. I felt listened to and seen, and when one is in struggle with illness, this itself is a healing gift. Thank you Dr. Eisenheim, your wealth of knowledge and humble approach has made a difference in how I know care can be given and received.”
